Vaheeda Tariq

Vaheeda Tariq  an army wife and mother of two boys first practiced yoga for the physical benefits hoping to lose weight and become more fit. As her body became stronger and healthier, she soon discovered that her yoga mat was a place to find a sense of contentment, self-awareness, and mind-body connection. When Vaheeda decided to enroll for Hatha teacher training, she only hoped to deepen her own practice, however, the more she learned and, the more her intention turned to teach and sharing the practice she loves with others.

As a teacher, Vaheeda realizes that yoga is not a "one size fits all" practice and that every person is on a different path, so she pursued her study of yoga and did her Masters in Yoga from SVYASA, learning more about how yoga can be applied to help and heal people with lifestyle diseases and common ailments. Curious about different styles she further did her teachers training course in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Vaheeda further did her training in rehab Pilates so that she can use the best of both Yoga and Pilates in her way of teaching. All the experiences she had while studying different forms helped her to put together a style of her own.

Vaheeda has been practicing yoga for the last 10 years and teaching group classes for 7 years since her 1st yoga teacher training course  in 2013 .She has been taking online classes  for the  last 1.5 year since pandemic started. She has been working in association with Consult Yoga since 2021 as part of consult yoga team. She has also  been teaching children of SSVM institutions from age of 6 to 16 and working as faculty of the school. She tries to offer her students be it adults or children the opportunity to take that path in their own way at their own pace, to modify when needed and to honor how they feel at all times. Vaheeda believes in the motto Abhyasa - Practice with perseverance. The very heart of yoga is Abhyasa -  steady effort in the direction of your goal. Practice not just to get it right, Practice so that you will never get it wrong. Vaheeda finds immense joy, satisfaction, and inspiration in seeing students discover themselves in their personal yoga journey and hopes to nurture and encourage them along their path.
